slix is a randomising loop slicer, which switches between up to 4 loops and can shuffle, repeat, reverse and gate the slices of each loop according to user defined probability. Load any 4 loops, sync them to tempo, slice them up and then set probabilities that each loop will play and for each randomising effect per loop. Even the randomness is randomised, with a parameter that varies the probability in a user defined range. slix was co-developed with sink, who also provided the included 295 original loops

features

· Load any 16, 24 or 32 bit, mono or stereo wav file into the 4 loop slots
· 445 MB of original drum loop content (295 loops) by sink covering many electronic genres (breakbeat, dubstep, drum & bass, electro, 8 bit, lofi, vintage, IDM, FSU and glitch)
· Tempo-sync each loop by setting length in beats, allowing stretching or different lengths if desired
· Choose any number of slices per loop
· Slix plays when triggered by any midi note, with volume envelope per loop for fades
· 4 effects with independent parameters per loop
. Reorder – plays slices out of sequence for variation per loop
. Repeat – stutter effect by repeating slices
. Reverse – play the slice backwards
. Gate – add silent gaps into the loop
· Variation range to randomise probabilities
· Normalise and mono options per loop
· Stereo-out and Multi-out versions (slix and slix 4x4)
· Single loop version (slix one) for simpler applications or lower CPU
· 57 presets covering a range of sounds and styles

Installation help

The manual included with the download will help to explain the installation in more detail, but in summary;
- you should extract the contents of the download 7z file into your VST directory, maintaining the folder structure to ensure the presets work
- you can load your own samples from any directory
- slix.dll is the default version, slix_4x4 is the multi-out version, slix_one.dll is the single loop version
- You may need to configure your host to play both all 4 stereo outputs in the slix_4x4 version
For more details please consult the included manual

Note for users with Multicore processors

slix was developed using SynthEdit software version 1.017
There is a known bug with this version of SynthEdit that affects some multicore processors, although it isn't widely documented. Some users with multicore processors and certain hosts have reported issues when trying to load multiple instances of the same SynthEdit plugin. This bug is not reproducable on all systems or hosts, and may not occur on your system. If you have a multicore processor you are strongly urged to fully test the demo version of slix on your system before purchasing.
This bug does NOT affect single core processors or single instances of a plugin
This bug only seems to apply in hosts with multi-core support
Whilst SynthEdit 1.1 will fix this bug, there are several other bugs associated with SE 1.1 and it is not considered stable at this time. There is no guarantee that slix will be updated to SE 1.1, as the compatibility between the two versions is not certain.
If you do have issues with multiple instances, there is a potential workaround. By making several copies of slix.dll (eg slix_a.dll, slix_b.dll, etc) in your VST directory, your host will see each one as a different plugin and be able load one instance of each

Host Compatibility

slix has been tested and works in Cubase 4.5.2, Sonar 7.0.2, Ableton Live Lite 7.0.16, FL Studio 8.02, Reaper 3.04, Renoise 2.1, energyXT 2.5.1, energyXT 1.4 and Podium 2.17
You should however always test the demo version in your choice of hosts/system before purchase
