Controls
Step Sequencer
beats - choose from 2 to 32, setting the length of the sequence
steps - from 2 to 32, choose how many steps in the sequence
seed - choose any number to set the seed for the string of random numbers. This will mean for any given seed value, the string will be repeatable from hitting play on your transport controls. This means although the probability will be random, it will be in the same sequence every time you play the track and therefore your track will sound the same each time it is played. Choose a different seed to get a new string of random numbers. choose 0 (zero) to switch seeding off and to get no repeatability
loop repeat - select this to repeat the random number sequence over the bar length selected. This means your randomisation sounds the same every loop
beats - set how often the seeded random loop repeats, from 2 to 100 beats
probability - for each step, move the column to select the probability of triggering the gate
0% = no column - gate will not trigger
50% = half column - gate will trigger 50% of the time on average (at random)
100% = full column - gate will always trigger
a horizontal line will show you the position in the sequence and the trigger LED will light when the step is triggered
volume
volume - use the horizontal bar to select the upper and lower values. You can also select by clicking the values at either end of the bar
default - choose max or min
max = the upper value is always on and the lower value is triggered by the step sequencer
min = the lower value is always on and the upper value is triggered by the step sequencer
LFO
The LFO can be turned on, to modulate the volume ONLY WHEN THE STEP SEQ IS TRIGGERED
The LFO is constantly on in the background, but only modulates the volume when the step seq triggers, so that for long LFO sync rates (eg 32 beats) each trigger would be at a different volume level
Choose the LFO waveform from sine, saw, square, triangle, ramp or random
Choose the tempo sync rate, from 1/16th beat (very fast buzzing) to 96 beats (slow sweeps)
The LFO depth is how much volume is modulated. The offset is to adjust if the LFO modulates about, above or below the nominal value
Pulse
Each time the step sequencer triggers, it sends a pulse to change the volume. This pulse length can be adjusted (in fractions or numbers of steps). eg if pulse = 0.5 steps, the volume will change for half a step when triggered if pulse = 4 steps, then the volume will change for 4 steps when triggered (ie stay on even after the step has passed)
Attack and Decay have 2 uses
- reduce clicking if it occurs, 5-10ms should do this if required
- change shape of modulation. Instead of the volume suddenly changing between upper and lower values, select longer attacks to make it trigger on slowly and longer decays to make it drop off slowly
Other controls
swing - adds a random delay to the triggering of each step
mix - controls wet/dry mix, can be used to make the effect more sublte by introducing some dry signal
