Impakter is a vintage drum module plugin containing 320 samples of original drum sounds generated on analogue synths and drum machines. It’s simple and fun to use with a few advanced features to give some variation and randomisation on every loop.


Gear used to generate and process the samples:
Analogue synths: Korg MS20, Roland Juno60, Gakken SX-150
Analogue drum machines : Yamaha MR-10, Korg KPR-77, Antonelli Organ 2377 rhythm box, Mattel Synsonics
Analogue processing: Electro Harmonix Micro synth, Mam VSR3 spring reverb, Lexicon reverb, Boss GE-10 equalizer, Tube compressor, analogue VCA compressor
Vintage synths: Yamaha TX81-Z FM synth



· 320 original electronic drum samples generated on vintage hardware synths and drum machines
· 4 modules for kick, snare, hats and percussion sounds
· Each module can host 2 samples and trigger either depending on user defined probability
· 2 levels of randomising can be assigned to each modules’ volume, pan, decay and pitch for variation every loop
· Boomer module has resonant low pass filter and dirt control
· Smacker module has resonant band pass filter and dirt control
· Tweeter module has tempo-sync repeat function with hold
· Lazer module has tempo-sync delay function with damping

The download is a 15 MB zip file and includes 320 samples. A manual is also included in the download




Download demo VST (3.6 MB) - This zip contains the demo version of Impakter to allow you to fully evaluate it before purchasing. The demo only has 32 of the 320 samples from the full version. It is fully functioning except you will get 1 second of silence every 10 seconds and a nag screen on start up. Manual is also included

You can also listen to some audio demos to get a feel of what Impakter can do, although the demo VST will give you a better idea if it's right for you.

The manual included with the download will help to explain the installation in more detail, but in summary;
- you should extract the contents of the download zip into your VST directory, maintaining the folder structure to ensure the presets work
- You may need to configure your host to play both stereo outputs

Impakter was developed using SynthEdit software version 1.016
There is a known bug with this version of SynthEdit that affects some multicore processors, although it isn't widely documented. Some users with multicore processors and certain hosts have reported issues when trying to load multiple instances of the same SynthEdit plugin. This bug is not reproducable on all systems or hosts, and may not occur on your system. If you have a multicore processor you are strongly urged to fully test the demo version of Impakter on your system before purchasing.
This bug does NOT affect single core processors or single instances of a plugin
This bug only seems to apply in hosts with multi-core support
Whilst SynthEdit 1.1 will fix this bug, there are several other bugs associated with SE 1.1 and it is not considered stable at this time. There is no guarantee that Impakter will be updated to SE 1.1, as the compatibility between the two versions is not certain.
If you do have issues with multiple instances, there is a potential workaround. By making several copies of Impakter.dll (eg Impakter_a.dll, Impakter_b.dll, etc) in your VST directory, your host will see each one as a different plugin and be able load one instance of each



Impakter has been tested and works in Cubase 4.5, Sonar 7.0.2, Ableton Live Lite 7.0.14, FL Studio 8.02, Reaper 2.55, Renoise 2.0, energyXT 2.5, energyXT 1.4 and Podium 2.09
You should however always test the demo version in your choice of hosts/system before purchase
